Being in entertainment was unavoidable for Kevin as his father was a singer/pianist, his mother a 1950’s model and other relatives have acted in films with Richard Burton, Peter Sellers, Michael Caine and David Niven. One relative (the stunt director of the film ’Zulu‘) was Richard Burton's stunt-double for many years as he looked so much like him.
At around the age of five Kevin first discovered 'the American songbook', singing Pennies from Heaven accompanied by his father, whose constant renditions of Gershwin, Porter and Berlin were to leave an irreversible impression. By his early twenties, Kevin found himself in the company of and performing with other like minded aficionados. Their profound knowledge and musicianship helped forward his studies. These included the late American saxophonist Spike Robinson, John Critchinson (piano accompanist with Ronnie Scott), and bass player Lennie Bush, who sessioned with Frank Sinatra on his album “Great Songs from Great Britain”. Kevin appeared with them on one of their albums in the late nineties, along with regarded jazz drummer Bobby Worth who Kevin still uses in his band today.
Kevin has performed at a huge variety of venues ranging from world class hotels, corporate events, jazz clubs, stately homes & chateaux, museums, TV companies, racecourses, an airshow and a premiership football match; his long list of high-end clients is both impressive and enviable. They include media giant NBC Universal for a private party and Anschutz Entertainment Group, owners of the 02 Arena, for a private event to celebrate their acquisition of the venue. Other media work has included a launch for the prestigious brand Hermes-Paris; vocals for the San Pellegrino ‘Dinner at Eight’ radio advertising campaign airing nationwide in the USA; and a television advertising campaign for Price-Drop.tv. Another highlight was performing for a V.I.P. private client who loved Sinatra at a private event at The Ritz hotel attended by a senior member of the Royal Family and Royalty of Europe. On another level, one of Kevin's regrets was being unavailable when asked to perform with Dean Martin’s daughter Deana Martin in her touring UK show about the life of her father.
Kevin’s band are high profile and award winning session musicians in their own right, and have performed with some of the biggest music legends of our time including Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Liza Minnelli, Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Barbara Streisand, and too many other stars to list here. They’ve appeared on TV programmes such as The X-Factor, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Children in Need, The Paul O'Grady Show, Strictly Come Dancing, The South Bank Show, Parkinson, Top of the Pops and Later...with Jools Holland, and have performed everywhere from Ronnie Scott‘s to The Royal Albert Hall via the West End theatres, as well as at the major International Jazz Festivals. Celebrities worldwide and crowned heads of Europe are among the many who have enjoyed their wonderful talents.
Kevin can be booked to perform a Sinatra, Dean Martin or Rat Pack tribute show or with his hugely popular Jazz Swing Band, and he’s guaranteed to impress anyone who likes this genre of music. All of his performances are delivered with bona fide stage presence, bringing red-carpet style at no extra charge. He performs effortlessly not only the less challenging songs but also the more vocally difficult. He uses only the highest quality live recordings of American big band arrangements or can be backed by anything from a piano to full orchestra.
The result of all this ……………..a truly memorable experience.
