M & S Company Archive Launch at Leeds University

Last month also saw Kevin & his band perform to former Head of MI5, Dame Stella Rimington, and other top brass at the much-anticipated launch of  M& S Company Archive Museum at Leeds University.

The Michael Buble Tribute Band celebrates pre-Oscars Night 

Kevin & his Michael Buble Tribute Band helped revellers celebrate an evening of pre-Oscars glitz and Hollywood glamour last month at Stock Brook Manor in Essex.

Last month also saw Kevin perform to a near-sell out crowd at The Epsom Playhouse Theatre, nr London, in the show Sinatra, Sequins & Swing – The Capitol Years Live! Latest 7 Magazine said of his performance –  “…sung with integrity (but with a few nice jazz florets) by the smooth Kevin Fitzsimmons. The evening as a whole was a glorious and honest rendition of Sinatra’s ‘Capitol’ years“.

Wedding season starts early again!

After a quick break we were back for our first wedding booking of the year on the 14^th January, held at The Landmark Hotel in Marylebone London.  Also in January was a debut as guest singer with saxophonist Frank Griffith’s Best Coast Big Band, at The Manor in  Ruislip; a corporate launch event for Nat West Bank, and a return to Boisdale of Canary Wharf to perform more of his brilliant translations of the Sinatra songbook at The Chivas Regal Sinatra Night… Hear Kevin live at Boisdale!

Kevin & his band hired as the ‘1920′s band’ on E4 MADE IN CHELSEA TV show

Kevin was thrilled to be hired by the producers of E4 reality-soap ’Made In Chelsea’ to feature in the show’s finale as a 1920′s style jazz band.  They performed live during the filming of the Gatsby-themed party shown in Series 2′s final episode.  The band are also available for hire (with full 1920′s & 1930′s era song list) for corporate entertainment or parties in this theme, or for a 20′s/30′s style vintage wedding.

Kevin makes his debut live on radio JAZZ FM

See The Kevin Fitzsimmons Sextet record their Jazz FM debut live at Bosidale Canary Wharf on 16^th November (during The London Jazz Festival). Highlights from the show broadcast live nationwide on Jazz FM (DAB/Sky 0202/Freesat 729) on following Tuesday, 22nd November, 8pm-9pm.  Jazz FM say, “….his voice is an irresistible mix of Sinatra, Bennett & Buble”.

Album Review in London’s Evening Standard!

We were thrilled our jazz wedding band’s saxophonist Alex Garnett’s new album got a great review in London’s Evening Standard (29th Jul) from Jazz Critic Jack Massarik, who said Alex “has the individuality, skill and stamina every star soloist needs & his debut album is an impressive affair.” Well done Alex!

A Jazz Band for wedding in Tuscany…

Edel & Andrew flew Kevin, his jazz band & manager Avril to Florence at the end of May to  kick-off the evening celebrations at their wedding, held in the Baroque splendour of Florence’s Palazzo Corsini.  Their choice of Sinatra classics & jazz/swing standards fitted the occasion – & venue – perfectly!
